Page2Screen: HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN
Ian and Cole continue their annual Harry Potter birthday bonanza with a "Page2Screen" look at Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! This third entry in the blockbuster book/movie phenomenon finds the thirteen-year-old wizarding wunderkind holed-up in Hogwarts as a murderous Voldemort confederate stalks the school, following a daring prison escape.
The validity of that description is questionable, and the novel paints a richly textured portrait of a boy whose trust in authority is tested at every turn. Alfonso Cuarón's 2004 film leaves out several key developments, which the guys break down and compare against the big-screen adaptation's overall effectiveness.
And, yes, they also talk about the whirlwind of controversy surrounding series author J.K. Rowling--and whether or not Prisoner of Azkaban in particular may shed light on the nuances of her stance toward the Transgender community. And whether that nuance is productive in advancing the cultural conversation.
