Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep1116: Accademia Giallo: Credito Extra: Glass Dolls and Celluloid Dreams w/ Guido and Lucas Henkel

It's time for another "Credito Extra" edition of Accademia Giallo, as Ian welcomes Guido and Lucas Henkel, the father/son powerhouse behind the phenomenal new indie genre label, Celluloid Dreams!

In this episode, the Henkels talk about the origins of their boutique home video company, and offer insights into just what it takes when you're determined to do it all, to exacting standards. From securing rights to 4K restoration; from choosing which films are "Dreams-worthy" to figuring out physical extras and bonus features--you'll learn a little bit of everything in an episode centered around the guys' latest release, Aldo Lado's 1971 head trip, Short Night of Glass Dolls!

Celluloid Dreams' new 4-disc 4K UHD Short Night of Glass Dolls set is now available!
