Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar Noé, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Fee-fi-fo-fum! I smell another KtS Contest!

That's right! In honor of today's larger-than-life home video debut of Jack the Giant Slayer, Kicking the Seat and Partnershub have teamed up to give one lucky reader a chance to win the movie on Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Ultraviolet)!

Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of this life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend... and gets the chance to become a legend himself! It seems every childhood fable is being given the blockbuster treatment these days, but which one would really rock your world? The author of my favorite answer will magically grow their Blu-ray collection by one movie very soon.
