Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep662: SIGHTED! An Interview with 15 THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT BIGFOOT Writer/Director Zach Lamplugh

Ian talks with filmmaker Zach Lamplugh about his hilarious new comedy, 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind)!

When a disgruntled clickbait journalist (Brian Emond) takes an assignment to learn the truth about Bigfoot in Georgia's backwoods, he discovers very human subcultures that are scarier than the most rabid Sasquatch!

In this spoiler-free conversation, Zach talks about making the move from video editing to feature film directing; pop culture's obsession with Bigfoot; and why the elusive creature is a perfect metaphor for internet fame! 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot is now available On Demand.
