Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep1142: Say No More, Xenomorph: Alien Earth Ep 03 - Live Roundtable Review

Earth's Mightiest Critics might be tempted to nuke Alien: Earth from orbit, but they'll wait to pass judgment on Noah Hawley's prequel series until after the finale...just to be sure.

But that won't stop us from reviewing Episode 3, "Metamorphosis":

"The team returns home with unexpected cargo. An unsettling experiment occurs, and a new talent is discovered."

Vaguely chilling, or chillingly vague! You decide--we'll analyze!

You're one click away from more spoilerific space spore savagery! We also take your questions, comments, and SuperChats!

And be sure to join us back here every Thursday night through September for more gooey Alien: Earth goodness!
