Ep1025: DUCHESS (2024) - Movie Review
At Kicking the Seat, we don't believe in curses--but this 0-for-3 streak of movie reviews between Ian and David has us asking, "Why not?"
Neil Marshall's latest film, Duchess, is now available On Demand and playing in UK theaters, and the guys are absolutely flabbergasted that the writer/director of new-century genre staples Dog Soldiers and The Descent would even be capable of unleashing such a DOA paint-by-numbers actioner.
In one of our shortest episodes this year, Ian and David unpack as much as they can (in spoilerific detail) before running out of steam. From fight scenes where the camera moves faster than the participants; to the dead-eyed, vengeance-seeking, tough-chick lead; to character interactions whose dialogue is so cliché-ridden they play like drinking games, Duchess is something that simply must be seen...wait for it...to be believed!
But trust us: this review is time much better well spent!
