Today, The Kicking the Seat Podcast and Cole Rush of ColeTries.com and The Quill to Live conclude their "Page2Screen2Screen" discussion of Pet Sematary! On Monday's show, the guys compared Stehpen King's 1983 novel to Mary Lambert's 1989 film adaptation. In this installment, they include the new film by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (now in theatres), and examine the strengths and weaknesses of each version of this story--which centers on a doomed family whose new home in the Maine countryside sits next to a cursed Indian burial ground.
The filmmakers make significant changes to King's narrative (only some of which have been spoiled by the marketing materials) and this spoilerific conversation digs into some surprising elements that make the new Pet Sematary more than a rote cash-in.
Also: Cole reivews King's Pet Sematary novel at The Quill to Live; David Fowlie reviews the new movie at Keeping it Reel; and the Chicago Film Tour returns for its tenth blockbuster season, starting tomorrow!
Episode 397 wouldn't be caught dead wearing open-heeled slippers!
