Today, The Kicking the Seat Podcast and writer/director Sujewa Ekanayake hop aboard Jim Jarmusch's magnificent Mystery Train! The offbeat 1989 dramedy centers on three groups of seemingly disconnected people converging on Memphis, Tennessee, in one of the wildest and most entertaining examples of "slow cinema" Ian has ever seen (granted, that list is not long).
The guys use Mystery Train as a spring board to tackle issues of race, culture, and independent filmmaking--and also catch up with Sujewa's progress on his upcoming feature, Slow Romance!
Also, Ian invites listeners to check out the latest episode of the You'll Probably Agree podcast, in which he debates Martin Scorsese and film critic bona fides with Mike Crowley and Matthew Bright. And if that weren't enough, there's a brand-new episode of Kicking the Seat's Mandalorian post-show, "What If He Doesn't Survive?" available now on YouTube!
Episode 480 thanks you--thanks you very much!
