Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep296: Late Screening: Tying the Room Together

The Kicking the Seat Podcast and ColeTries.com are back with another Dude-tacular installment of "Late Screening"! Yes, Ian and Cole visit L.A.'s seedy, smoky underworld, circa 1991, via 1998's cult classic, The Big Lebowski!

What does first-timer Cole make of The Coen Brothers' anti-private-eye masterpiece? And how has the viewing experience changed for Ian, who's only seen the film three times since its release twenty years ago? Listen in and find out!

Also, Ian reminds listeners that the world's premiere Twitter-only film festival, F This Movie Fest, returns this weekend with a knock-out of a throwback theme!

Episode 296 is full of, like, opinions, man!
