Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep133: Eman's APOCALYPSE!

This week, it's Ian and Eman versus X-Men on the KtS Podcast! The guys brave the Danger Room of public opinion to wage a spoilerific and not-so-secret war against Fox/Marvel's latest summer tent pole, X-Men: Apocalypse!

Emmanuel Noisette of Eman's Movie Reviews returns to offer his take on the underwhelming sequel, and elaborate on his recent article, "The X-Men Franchise is in Trouble! Four Ways to Save It". The guys talk about the series' film and comic book origins, its recent troubling turn, and the fine line between shaking up origin stories and fundamentally changing who key characters are.

Episode 133 is the first step in a remarkable and terrifying evolution of podcasting--okay, not really, but it's a really fun chat!

To keep up with the latest and greatest in seat-kicking goodness, be sure to follow, like, rate, and subscribe to us on TwitterFacebookiTunes, and Stitcher!
