Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep90: Dauntless

The KtS Podcast goes divergent this week as Ian and HollywoodChicago.com's Adam Fendelman discuss the headiness and silliness of dystopian-teen blockbuster Insurgent!* Also, Ian critiques hipster Q&A's, explains his lack of written reviews lately, and somehow manages to squeeze in promotions for a contest and a film festival (such breathtaking raw talent!). We're facing our darkest fears on Episode 90--namely that Insurgent might actually be better than The Hunger Games!

And don't forget to like, love, subscribe, and share Kicking the Seat on TwitterFacebook, and iTunes!

*If you haven't checked out Adam's recent interview with Divergent Series creator Veronica Roth, please do!
