Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep125: Sagacious Crumbs

On our milestone 125th episode, The KtS Podcast wraps up its five-month-long journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with a roundtable discussion of Return of the Jedi! Join Ian, Bill, Gari, and Charlie as they dissect George Lucas' "Special Edition" meddling (for better and worse); settle the Ewok debate once and for all; and engage in some rather startling banter!

Also, Ian may or may not know someone who's seeing The Force Awakens early, and promises much Episode VII goodness on next Friday's installment!

As always, we invite you to comment, follow, like, subscribe to, and share Kicking the Seat on TwitterFacebookiTunes, and Stitcher!

The dialogue that opens this episode comes from Kevin Smith's seminal, pop-cult love-letter, Clerks.
