Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Social Networking from the Last Guy Anyone Asks

Hey, Gang! Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that Kicking the Seat now has its very own Facebook page! Though sparse at the moment, this will be the new home for review and blog announcements, polls, and other (hopefully) fun communication-type things.

Wait...polls?

Yep! These won't be weekly occurrences, but sometimes I need help deciding which new movie to check out at the theatre. In such crises, I'll reach out to you, my dear readers, for help. I might also put out feelers for random, movie-related musings, like: "Name Your Least Favorite Star Wars monster!"

(That's a trick question and a bad example. The answer, of course, is "George Lucas".)

So, please stop by KTS on FB. If you like it, feel free to "Like" it and spread the word.

Thanks again for reading, everyone!
