Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Kicking the Seat Joins Forces with MovieFanFare!

Happy Thursday, Everybody!  Just dropping in to let you know about another cool development in the world of seat-kicking:  A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Chris at MovieFanFare (the blog site of Movies Unlimited and a fellow LAMB).  He asked if I'd be interested in writing something for them, and I politely declined.

Okay, that's completely untrue.  In fact, I jumped at the chance, and yesterday MovieFanFare published my His Girl Friday review.  I hope to contribute more pieces soon (maybe even some original ones!).  For now, I invite you to check out the site, which focuses on classic film criticism and essays.

Thanks again for reading, and take care.

Puff, Puff, Review!
