Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar Noé, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

To celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release of Guillermo Del Toro's blockbuster sensation Pacific Rim on Tuesday, October 15th, Kicking the Seat has teamed up with Partnershub and Warner Bros. to bring you the "Go BIG or Go EXTINCT!" Contest!

In the not-too-distant future, mankind is plagued by Kaiju, giant monsters who crawl out of an interdimensional ocean portal to wreak havoc on our cities. Governments the world over unite in creating "Jaegers", the ultimate in manned fighting vehicles, to stave off the attacks. As scientists track the Kaijus' rapid advances, can two emotionally damaged Jaeger pilots light humanity's darkest hour?

Enter for a chance to win Pacific Rim on Blu-ray, and find out! Simply answer the following question in the Comments section:

What would you name your Jaeger?

Pacific Rim's war machines all have cool names like "Gipsy Danger", "Crimson Typhoon", and "Striker Eureka". The prize will go to the author of my favorite moniker, so make it awesome!
