Today the Kicking the Seat Podcast ventures to the dying star known as Morten Tyldum's Passengers. The much-maligned Chris Pratt/Jennifer Lawrence vehicle has been torpedoed by critics, so it's no surprise that Ian is first in line to defend a film that's being called "Titanic in Space" (and not in a good way).
Joining him is a galactic federation of righteous reviewers, including David Fowlie of Keeping it Reel, Emmanuel Noisette of Eman's Movie Reviews, and Don Shanahan of Every Movie Has a Lesson. Harry Egbo also drops in to offer Ian some much needed support, and to keep this episode from becoming a full-fledged public intervention!
Is Passengers an empty homage to much better films, or is there something meatier beneath its glossy, star-powered surface? You'll find out in this exciting, spoiler-filled discussion, which has so many references to Jason X, we're pretty sure Todd Farmer is owed royalties!
If nothing else, Episode 179 proves that it is indeed very cold in space!
